What We Listening To: Sad Boy Music, Groovy Afro Beats & Eloquent Trap

It’s a new week and we are here to give you some tunes you may or may not have heard to enjoy throughout your week.

Bryson Tiller Returns

Bryson Tiller debut project Trapsoul was the type of debut most artists can only dream of. The first single, DONT, became an undeniable classic that still can be heard when out five years later. His follow up album True To Self didn’t live up to the success of its predecessor and had some wondering if Tiller could recreate what made his debut so memorable;.

Bryson may have done just that with his third project A N N I V E R S A R Y, just t in time for the fall and sad boy vibes to be in full effect. Somber and melodic production that’s more gloomy than dark, with Drake-esque relationship lyrics that are sure to make the rounds as social media compassion. Thirty minutes and only ten tracks you’re bound to find a song or two you’d enjoy.

My favorites: Things Change & Sorrows

Midas the Jagaban A Hit Maker

A friend sent me this song and honestly I haven’t stopped listening since. I will not sit up here and lie to you and act as if I’m an afro-beats connoisseur, or that I know who Midas the Jagaban is. But I do know a hit when I hear one and this is a hit.

21 Savage & Metro Boomin Do It Again

When an artist and producer have a special connection, the music just hits a little different. Some that come to mind right off top - Jay - Z & Just Blaze, Dr. Dre & Eminem, etc. 21 Savage & Metro Boomin currently have that connection and it’s brought them another masterpiece.

Savage Mode II the follow-up to Savage Mode is musically perfect, but add Morgan Freeman doing voiceovers for your skits and you’ve made something Godly.

Feeling Real Griselda-Esque

The hardest rap collective currently calls Buffalo, New York their home. If you haven’t heard of Benny the Butcher, Conway the Machine or Westside Gunn collectively, you sure have heard of one of these three during the last two years. While a staple in the underground for a few years it seems as though 2020 is the real Griselda coming out party.

Just in the last month Griselda has released projects from Conway, Armani Caesar (first lady of Griselda), Boldy James (newest member) and Westside Gunn with Benny the Butcher up next. Coke and drug dealing rap is the speciality, but luxury and flex bars aren’t missing if coke talk isn’t your thing.

Easier put, they bring the bars, when you listen to Griselda you’re going to get bars.
