One of my favorite rappers and the urban philosopher, Jay Wayne Jenkins aka Jeezy once stated, “if a nigga lie to your face, how you respect him.”
That bar has always stuck with me for because it speaks to some of the most basic truths of life. One being respect and another integrity.
While these basic truths would seem like a given for all living decent people, no one owes the next man either of these two things. But in a functioning society we expect these principles to be standard for most people, almost of all of our elected officials and especially the leader of the United States.
In more than 11 months that faithful questIon Jeezy asked has been answered more than enough times by the current weirdly tanned guy in the Oval Office. It could be the number of people at an inauguration, the number of people who “illegally” voted in last year’s election or just a many host of other things (lies) why would you still listen?
Here’s a list of the many lies Trump has told you, myself and the rest of the country.
Yes, Donald Trump happens to be the president at the moment but if the news won’t push him to tell the truth. The men and women of Congress won’t hold him accountable, who is supposed to, you?
Society has always had a weird relationship with government. Citizens for better or worse accept the lies of politicians in hope that those same politicians have their constituents good at hand.
Ironically enough, Trump billed himself as the complete opposite. He wasn’t of the political elite from Washington, D.C, he wasn’t the career politician. He was a business man who told it how it was and knew how to make a deal. One thing many of those who bought the goods of Trump forgot, didn’t take into account or just didn’t care about was that Trump would make deals and he would tell it how it was. He just wouldn’t make deals that benefited them and would tell them nothing but tweetstorms on any given day.
So at one point do sensible adults decide enough is enough? The world won’t stop whether I tune in, this I know. Wouldn’t I much rather try to keep my peace of mind?
