I have been away from Hazie for a few months now, coming to terms with what is going on around us in this strange era we are living in, however I feel it appropriate timing to return with some insightful words for our readers. Although i hate to add to the overflow of Trump coverage in the media and journalism it mustn’t be ignored. In the last few weeks the citizens of the United States of America have been witness to the formalizing of the Trump administration, in what is being revered as the assembling of the legion of doom, Trump’s cabinet selections are far from what a lot of Americans would have in mind as the future leaders in their positions.
lets start with Rudy Giuliani the prior New York mayor who has been tapped as possibly becoming either our new Attorney General or Secretary of State, here is why that matters; Giuliano is a proponent of stop and frisk, the policing tactic in New York which targeted mostly African American and Latino men by stopping them on the street searching and questioning them until said officers are satisfied. Initially this tactic was supposed to be a means to getting guns off the street and reducing crimes, but its effect was more along the lines of racial profiling and plain out harassment. It has been since ruled unconstitutional and a violation of the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments by A U.S. district court judge. “The Equal Protection Clause’s prohibition on selective enforcement means that suspicious blacks and Hispanics may not be treated differently by the police than equally suspicious whites,”. Giulioni wants these practices brought back and Trump agrees with him. This is just one of the many things this man has been quoted saying or doing that is seen as offensive, incentive, and just plain racist. ladies and gentleman your future Secretary of state or Attorney General
Attorney general’s main roles include: This person is the main legal adviser to the government, and in some jurisdictions they may also have executive responsibility for law enforcement, prosecutions or even responsibility for legal affairs generally. In practice, the extent to which the attorney-general personally provides legal advice to the government varies between jurisdictions, and even between individual office-holders within the same jurisdiction, often depending on the level and nature of the office-holder’s prior legal experience.
Michael Flynn our next National Security Adviser, he has flipped his views on many important issues most recently the attempted Coup in Turkey which he initially said deserved an applause. Seriously ? He’s also been quoted saying “Fear of Muslims is Rational” and a string of other questionable rhetoric playing on good ol American fear. Next we have Betsy DeVos who has been tapped to be the Secretary of Education, whats wrong with her you might ask? Well other than her inexperience in education policy, she funds and sits on the board of directors of Acton Institute, who recently posted an essay to their website arguing for abolition of child labor laws, saying mining would be “exciting life” for poor kids.
Words from the American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten; “She has lobbied for failed schemes, like vouchers — which take away funding and local control from our public schools — to fund private schools at taxpayers’ expense,” the National Education Association said. “These schemes do nothing to help our most-vulnerable students while they ignore or exacerbate glaring opportunity gaps. She has consistently pushed a corporate agenda to privatize, de-professionalize and impose cookie-cutter solutions to public education.”
There’s an even longer list of unqualified and inexperienced individuals in Trumps cabinet, among them are Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist, who may very well be an open white supremacist by his own words. He headed right-wing news site Breitbart News which has become the highly talked about “Alt-right” before chairing the president-elect’s campaign. Then there’s Reince Priebus, Trump’s chief of staff, he previously ran the Republican National Committee. Not to mention Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, a very key presidential campaign strategist who is now being discussed as a White House adviser, he ran his family’s real estate business before entering politics.
If these selections don’t make you question what will soon be the state of your country in the coming months then you should continue to do random internet challenges and keep up with the kardashians, because you don’t seem to have much a care for your comfort-ability as a citizen.
